XPAND uses GIS technology to develop CareerOneStop eTools to support BRAC 2005.

XPAND Corporation develops and maintains the CareerOnestop portal for the US Department of Labor (DOL) and the State of Minnesota.

This portal traditionally uses ESRI’s ArcSDE and ArcIMS technology to deliver proximity search results relating to finding the closest OneStop Career Centers, employers, and other support services.

The new Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) eTools extend the use of GIS technology within the CareerOnestop Portal to provide more data visualization.  Users can now use a map interface to select a major BRAC 2005 action and enter a search distance to view the facility location and Comprehensive One-stop Career Centers in the search area.

The BRAC etools (http://www.servicelocator.org/brac) were developed by XPAND to provide access to information on DOL resources and programs and other information available to businesses, individuals, and workforce professionals.

The BRAC eTools connect users to information on:

·        BRAC Sites, One-Stop Career Centers and Rural Development Offices;

·         Key Contacts; and

·         Related Resources

The “Related Resources” area includes the “BRAC Resources for Business” section that links users to information about the BRAC process, planning for the economic impacts, and researching programs and resources that may apply to individuals, organizations, and businesses.
