Project Overview: XPAND Corporation performs systems integration and related information technology services for America’s Career InfoNet website, the Nation’s premier electronic tool for career planning information. America’s Career InfoNet website offers a comprehensive range of U.S. labor market and career information for the benefit of students, workers, employers, and other members of the American public.
XPAND Corporation provides its IT services for America’s Career InfoNet under a contract with the State of Minnesota, which in turn receives a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to fund most of the suite of electronic tools collectively known as CareerOneStop.
Accomplishments: XPAND Corporation provides total IT technical support services for the America’s Career InfoNet website. XPAND is responsible for overall America’s Career InfoNet technical management, coordination, integration, planning, and evaluation; hardware and software testing and upgrading; data set revisions, updates, and replacements; website improvement and enhancement implementations; system reporting and documentation; overall quality assurance; and America’s Career InfoNet operational integration with the other CareerOneStop components. XPAND shares the total responsibility for the operation and content of America’s Career InfoNet with its principal collaborative partners: the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, especially its CareerInfoNet Office; the Minnesota Service Center; and the Employment & Training Administration within the U.S. Department of Labor. Major accomplishments include the following:

Evaluation of data for structural differences and data discrepancies, continual updating of website with most recent available data, development of crosswalk tables to integrate diverse data sources by Standard Occupational Classification or North American Industry Classification System classification and by State, where applicable.

Redesign of website look and function to began in early 2005.

Establishment of an America’s Career InfoNet information replacement and upgrade protocol that uses a three-stage process of development, staging, and production server uploads, reviews, and quality assurance sign-offs before new or revised information is displayed on the website.

Continuous monitoring of the operation of the America’s Career InfoNet website to ensure its full availability for its millions of users each year.

Immediate responsiveness to any system malfunctions with implementation of required corrective actions.

Development, hosting and maintenance of an America’s Career InfoNet “mirror” site in Virginia that completely replicates the America’s Career InfoNet production (i.e., live) site in New York.
