WORKFORCE TOOLS OF THE TRADE

wtt.jpgClients: U.S.Department of Labor and State of Minnesota

Summary Objective: An important aspect of the workforce development system is the skill sets of the program support personnel such as career counselors, claims representatives, One-Stop and Employment Service front-line staff, administrators, and training providers. The U.S. Department of Labor recognizes the need to provide these workforce professionals information on opportunities to enhance their own abilities, to share their success stories, and to be kept informed of news in their field in order to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire system.

Solution: Workforce Tools of the Trade - XPAND works with U.S. Department of Labor, the State of Minnesota, the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Center for Workforce Preparation to produce this website to help workforce professionals increase their skill levels and find out the latest on issues that affect their work and the people they are trying to serve. XPAND created a database of training resources including courses, providers, field examples, and publications that the users can be search by subject or key word.  Training providers may register themselves and their courses online. Workforce developers can create a personalized page, check the events calendar, read about new developments in the field, subscribe to the Newsbreaks newsletter, and find links for training and certification. XPAND has developed a customized statistical reporting tool for the client administrators as well as tools to manage the resource database, provider information, and calendar of events. The format and design of Workforce Tools of the Trade are products of XPAND’s web design team.
