Short-term disability coverage provides you with an ability to earn a living and provide for yourself and for those who are dependent on you if you become sick or disabled (non work related injury). STD would take effect after the employee has been disabled for 14 calendar days. After the 14 day period, this employer paid benefit pays 60% of base salary (to a maximum of $1,000 per week) for 11 weeks.
